As you drive down many roads in Hancock County, you will begin to notice colorful painted quilt patterns on barns, buildings and historic structures. The Appalachian Quilt Trail is the network of these hand painted blocks that runs across the state of Tennessee. Over 30 quilt blocks can be seen in Hancock County alone, leading visitors to quiet scenery, downtown businesses, century farms and historic barns that have been in Hancock County families for generations. Quilt blocks are painted by students, artists, volunteers and AmeriCorps members. For more information about the AQT and its history and stops, visit www.vacationaqt.com
